Year of the Yang Wood 甲Dragon 辰2024

The energies of the year are changing from Yin to Yang. We are moving into the Yang Wood Dragon from the Yin Water Rabbit. The Yang Wood energy coming in is highly optimistic, goal and growth oriented as well as having an expansive vision for the future. The Yang Wood heavenly stem is the first in the order of the Heavenly stems hence the reason for being extremely goal orientated, motivated and driven. Yang Wood types are symbolised by a tree strong, firm in foundation but also having a stubborn and inflexible character when imbalanced.

This strong firm foundation can make one have good leadership ability, be authorative and also powerful. I have observed this personality quite in depth from my own clinical practice as well as astrological consultations. I have seen these types to be very clear and determined from what they want to get out of life. Their vision is usually very clear, and as the Wood element is ruled by Jupiter they seem to be like Centuar the symbol of the Sagittarian setting their target for their goals far and expansive, just like the archer firing his arrow to the centre of the universe. Yang Wood types need to set there goals far and their vision needs to be grand. Most people will think their goal setting is to far fetched, but not to the Yang Wood type. They are here to make their mark on the world.

The Dragon branch is one of four of the Earth element branches. Key words for the Dragon are exotic, vital, elegant, decisive, over confident, transient and fond of the occult. People who have the Dog branch in their four pillars Chinese astrological chart will be challenged this year. Especially if your day pillar is one of the Commanding pillars sitting on the Dog. For more information on this please refer to my talk on Resilience in the horoscope. The Dragon and Dog aspect is termed the net of heaven and hell. I have noticed over the years that people can have paranormal experiences during these clash periods. They can also have extreme psychic sensitivity. When people are experiencing this clash, it is good to get help psychologically. Especially if one feels out of depth with the experiences they are having. The Dragon also represents one of the star of the arts. People born in this year can have artistic qualities to them.

The Dragon is part of the Water element combination along with the Rat and the Monkey. If you have any of these branches in your chart then the Dragon will combine with them. For example if you have a Rat or Monkey in the house of the spouse then the Dragon will be one of your flowers of romance and bring a potential partner for you. If you are already in a relationship it can deepen the connection between the two of you for the year.

The Yang Wood Stem combines with Yin Earth. If you are born on a day with a Yin Earth day master then this year will be significant. The Yang Wood Stem to a Yin Earth day master combines to form power element. This is highly auspicious, and can elevate your public status and recognition. It can also give you a job promotion within the company you work for. If you are an entrepreneur then you will get much busier at work. For woman born on a Yin Earth day, the power element combination from the Yang Wood Stem represents a man so there is potential for partnership this year.

From a five element perspective Wood is invading Earth this year. This is a common pattern in Chinese medicine we see clinically. So we may see a lot more Stomach and Spleen issues presented in clinic. The Dragon is also part of the Water element combination so we may also see problems with fluid metabolism and swelling conditions such as edema. Patients who are born on a Yang Metal day will be in clash with the Yang Wood stem. This can manifest as migraine headaches, and gall bladder issues. There can also be problems with the bowels as Wood can insult Metal from this clash. Yang Metal represents the navel and intestines and the Yang Wood stem represents the gall bladder and neck. If these clashes are within your four pillars chart make sure you have acupuncture to keep you body and constitution balanced for the year.

Wishing you a prosperous, healthy and happy Dragon year!
